About halfway through high school, I first tasted live rock & roll. At U2's Joshua Tree Tour playing 'De Kuip' in Rotterdam, we were propelled into motion because the stands moved to the rhythm at the first notes of Where the Streets Have no Name. If I had to find one word to describe this, it would be . awe . In an experience of such perceptual vastness, you literally have to reconfigure your mental models of the world to assimilate it... The song and performance never left my mind or my life. It may have been the first hint to start exploring composition.

Composition is often considered one of the fundamental principles of art and design. Just as a well-composed work is often seen as more aesthetically pleasing and effective than one without a strong composition, a well-solved problem is one where the solution is effective, efficient, and elegant. Both skills require careful attention to detail, a willingness to experiment and take risks, and the ability to iterate and refine one's ideas until the desired outcome is achieved.
